A bit too realistic...

This link basically takes a shitload of comparisons between the anime "Kannagi" and the real life town it is based on.
Hell, you can see Kannagi's run down ass house if you click, though the originalpost has censored the initial google screenshot preview. (I've uncensored it here)

I remember thinking that it was really cool that Hinamizawa/Shirakawa was a real town.
But lately it seems more and more anime aren't even bothering to think up their settings, they just go to a town, photograph it, then draw the photographs, or even photoshop directly over them.
Maybe it helps people connect to the anime more.
People in that town anyway...(and for the people of Lucky Star town, milk it for all its worth.)
It sort of smacks to laziness to me though.

Added bonus:
Clannad: After Story doing the same thing.

Ba-ka Ba-ka

Original at IOSYS

There's a LOT in this flash, so some things you should know.
Playing Scarlet Weather Rhapsody should also help a lot, a lot of SWR-related things show up.

The "top" here is literal, as Tenshi is a celestial and basically lives up in heaven.
She's not that smart though =D.

Cirno is actually doing her easy mode spell card during the chorus of bakas.
You know, the one where you can sit right in front of her and never get hit.

Iku's Saturday Night Fever moves are pretty known by now, but yes she makes that pose to call down lightning.

Cirno's math problem goes something like this:
3 people get on the Touhou bus at Scarlet Devil Mansion, one gets off at Hakugyokurou, half a person gets on (Yuyuko is gnawing on the other half), 2 people get off at the Yakumo's house, how many are left?
The answer is zero, because there are no buses in Gensokyo.
Cirno does the Ranka Lee (from Macross Frontier) kira kira pose here before being run over by Yukari's train super from Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.

Patchouli's initial book reads "dameido", a pun on dame, and also a VIP copy pasta thread.
Basically a very bad maid.
Patchouli's book when she gets off reads "hetare shu", or useless master.

The drinks Reisen gives Cirno are from her power-up super in Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, they're made by Eirin.

This part I'm unsure of, but Cirno says she can't understand time but doesn't care because the round-eyed god (but nothing round here) says the three hands mean nothing.
Sakuya does her counter move from SWR, which of course is parodying Dio from Jojo.

I don't know what Cirno's paper says yet.
Keine's blackboard seems to be...a list of missions from Earth Defense Force 2017 (Notice the giant bug), a rather popular game on nicovideo.

Of course, Yukkuri siteitte ne is what is said during Keine's headbutt.
The Knockout graphic is from Scarlet Weather Rhapsody again.

Ends with another Saturday Night Fever Iku, cept the lightning comes down this time.

aka why am I watching anime again?

Index is ok.
Kannagi is making me laugh out loud a lot, Nagi is just too weird to not appreciate.
Sort of reminds me of Yukiko =O
Macademi Wasshoi or whatever Ken was recommending is eh, pretty average.
Time to dl one episode of Nodame whatever French it is.

FUCK YOUR CANON

[13:28] <Rithli> siblade
[13:28] <Rithli> p4 main's manga name is seta soujiro lmao

And with that said, let the stupid Kenshin jokes begin.

Also, scans from the Official Design Works.
Let's get this out of the way first:

OLD RISE who was initially a WOMEN'S GANG LEADER (sukeba)

Rise after they decided she was an idol

Final Rise

Maybe if they had made her tsundere it could have saved her. のヮの
No seriously, give me back my gang leader Rise Atlus.

Upperclass man Kanji:

FONZ? IS THAT YOU?

Kuma might have had a girl inside instead?:

Naoto WAS a guy originally:

Female Naoto in men's shirt :3

Yukiko seems to have had a short hair Aegis phase:

Chie seems to have been settled on fairly quickly, having only a short stint with shoujo manga Persona 3 girl's hair:

Moother 3

MBAA, more stupid shit

If you don't have a nico account, the sum of the fight is:
Kohaku on point with Hisui assist can call her in the air, it's plus frames, and it does no pushback.
Half moon Shiki can 6AAA THROUGH SOMEONE'S COLLISION BOX and cross up from the other side.
Both of these things are stupid.

Edit: Ken just pointed out something even worse lol.
The combo counter DOES NOT STOP even after Kohaku is knocked down in the third round when Shiki combos both twins.
It keeps counting and scaling until Hisui wakes up.

MBAA impressions

Played it.
Mad tired, quick post about what I saw.
ctohno, cvakiha, fakiha, faoko, haoko, cwarc, fwarc, hnero, ckohaku

ctohno's jC hitbox has been increased tremendously. Ken and I were getting hit by this shit all day, it was mind-numbingly stupefying. Apologies to nightwolf if we sound like haters, but we are!

cvakiha randomly scrubbed out ctohno. No clue how he pulled it off, just flying around.

fakiha has a fucking infinite off her yakuza 6b kick into flame pit. Zar got at most, 4 reps. Lots of held flame pits everywhere, shit is annoying.

faoko is sortta silly, finger shots and all, weird orb lasers, somersault is of course worse than flying i'm going to kick you, but rithli still won with it anyway.

haoko has all the broken nonsense you've seen, but it is quite hard to pull off, zar might have got the charge kick loop once and the ex orb projectile relaunch combo once in all the hours of play we had. I still took 3k off a fucking charged beam though to die.

cwarc feels very familiar. Advanced bnb is much easier to do, first jc hits like 100% of the time. Geass ring is AMAZING, shit is fast and goes full screen and is oh so good. Wish she had a normal small ring that did that :V Still couldn't quite fit 6c seamlessly into my game, I know she can do some great shit like 5b5a6c2c5c etc. now. j2c ender is extremely viable, but not sure what to do on landing, i wonder if i can air dash after it if i haven't used it yet.

fwarc is too fucking weird. jb is weird, 2b is some weird ass slide, 236 rekkas are huge plus frames, couldn't figure out her bnb

hnero is nero with a bee and more annoying. long island joe figured him out pretty quick, hoaaaaas all around PLUS A NORMAL DASH AHHHHHH. One bnb into max is sucks too :V

ckohaku is sortta crazy, a LOT of crossup hi low bullshit off knockdowns that is pretty hard to read. ken says 6c loop is much harder than it looks, he can't do it yet, just repeated 5b loop atm.

I'll have some pictures but honestly I've never used my cellphone camera before so it might be a bit before I figure out how to put them online.

Genesis TMNT Tournament Fighters Review

This caught my eye because Chibi, Saiyd and Arturo still burn this game!
And DS more recently with his lame ass Raph.
But yeah the Genesis version...is quite different from the SNES version it appears.

Valkyrie Profile DS what?

Square Enix is bringing its cult classic role-playing game series Valkyrie Profile to Nintendo DS, causing fans to line up for hours around its booth to play it, although they might be surprised by what they find. "The DS version is very different from the earlier versions -- it's a strategy RPG this time," says James Clark, who writes for a website called RPGFan from his Tokyo apartment.

What?

Via Zepy.
Long story short, Phoenix Wright musical.
All female troupe.

So yeah, they're actually using the English name for Naruhodo.
Got me why.
FUENIKUSU!
Or something.

Tohno's got spinzaku.

Ciel's got BREAKDANCING HANDSTAND kicks.

9000+ hours of MBAA footage

Joybox of course, uploading hours and hours of MBAA footage.
Half moon sounded like a gimpy ass groove but it's proven quite powerful, you can still rebeat, a lot of the new moves/normals are very good and that auto heat/burst isn't as terrible as one would think.
Regen is insanely fast.

One of many

Summary:
Half moon Sion and Half moon Akiha feel very strong.
Ries is boring as hell overall, but good normals makes her dangerous.
Warc looks fantastic, I can't wait to use her.
Nanaya has a clone ex DP in half moon that appears FULL SCREEN.
As in he can do it in response to Hisui pots and hit her in the back.
H Nanaya has really funny ballerina legs.

ANIME, GET ANGRY!

Apparently Strike Witches DVDs are outselling everything else.

Something irks me when people can drop Shuffle! before the serious arcs where it gets quite good (best eroge anime adaptation ever) yet proclaim the godliness of Strike Witches.
Where is all that trademark Gonzo hate you clowns!?
Geez!

AMS Amusement Machine Show

Tons of shit here, but the ones that I particularly care about are:

KOF

Why do you look so fucking BEAUTIFUL!?

what?
WHAT?
WHAT?
OTOME CRISIS ARCADE?
WHAT THE MADNESS IS THIS?
AND THAT PLAYER SUCKS AT TIME ATTACK!

But yes, godamn, I might be obligated to buy the board now.
I mean come on it's fucking Otome Crisis!
Poor Monster, your load times look really long and you still look awful bleah :V

Oh right, and tons of MBAA blah blah blah.

MBAA

Sega's put up some new matches on youtube.
Everyone seems to suck, it feels like they are CPUs, except maybe the Sion.
Lots of interesting things to see, including the fact that Roa is a crazy Blanka beast that throws lightning bolts.

Sion Full Moon vs Aoko Full Moon

Sion is cheating by playing seriously. Seems to do less damage (thank god). Aoko somehow got a flash kick and an magic arm sword, along with a real projectile.

Mecha Hisui Half Moon vs Vakiha Full Moon

Mecha has gradius ships and summons!?!? (They can be hit.) Dhalsim-like go-go gadget arms. Vakiha full gets 3 pits at once, a move that looks like Unknown's j2c from EFZ, aerial flame waves

Warcueid Half Moon vs Shiki Tohno Half Moon

Warc sounds less crazy, more cool arrogant. Has rings, has reppuken! Has...weird pose where she crosses her arms and her eyes glow (eye beams?) Her teleport is an attack now, CHed Tohno out of 2a, looks pretty cool. She looks pretty nice actually, the reppuken really helps full screen. Oh, and they kept j2c's charismatic sound effect. Shiki looks Shiki. "HAH. HAH. HAH" etc. Didn't see much from him.

White Len Half Moon vs ROA Half Moon

White Len's air dash seems better, she's stolen some of Len's normals. LOL at the invisibility nonsense. ROA looks like a beast. He looks like Blanka cept he chucks lightning bolts. And wait WTF HE HAS EX HALO/HIERO/7TH HEAVEN/FUCK THAT SUPER. Oh shit! Roa looks crazy yeah.

Satsuki Full vs Ciel Full

Satsuki voice more subdued (thank god) Very weird now, all those hopping grabs and what she has a kick? I don't know what to think she looks really weird and somewhat trickier. Ciel still has clash on dash like the bitch she is. El oh el at those boxing punches now. CH time on black key is LONG.

Team Fortress 2 has officially replaced Halo PC for me

I haven't really posted much on this game but, I can safely say it's replaced the lulz that is Halo PC as my drug of choice.
Admittedly, I must have played more hours of Halo PC than any other game to date.
Shameful truth.
Because it was my "relax" game, even if it is as I have repeatedly said, "A terrible port of a mediocre game."
Any time I wasn't playing a specific game, I would end up playing Halo PC, get something like a 50:10 score for hours on end, then call it a day like 8 hours later (NEET life back in the days etc.)
The game is literally inaccessible to 90% of normal shooter people because of how its terrible netcode handled lag; if someone lagged more, you had to shoot the air further ahead of him if he was moving.
And I mean you had to shoot quite FAR, this isn't mere leading this is like psychic powers.
Combine this with a 3 shot kill pistol and you could waste scores of clowns shooting directly AT you while getting out alive.
Forget it at point blank range, to melee someone in front of your face strafing right you'd have to turn right 90 degrees and punch the air.
Anyway, since I've always been sort of good shooting in front of people rather than AT them, the game was quite easy to me and basically my fallback on game when I was bored, depressed, annoyed, or any other mood that required killing an entire team over and over inside their base to fix.
It's nice to finally let it go.

TF2 is a different beast.
The guns that have leading make sense to have lead, you can't really take on an entire team or even two-three people by yourself unless by some special/freak circumstances or you're playing pure noobs.

Something I've fast discovered...
The game really is about teamwork.
In Halo PC, pubs tended to be decided by which team had more good pistolers.
1v2? Your team was doomed. 2v3? Your team was still doomed.
This didn't really change in competitive; cept it was pistolers/snipers now (good snipers in pubs were generally good pistolers, only in competitive would a distinction even exist).
Your flag carrier was always usually the guy who wasn't that great with lag (lol) or anyone adlibbing the role.
I can only think of one rare case where we faced an almost overwhelmingly better skilled team and used pure flag capture gimmicks er teamwork to win.
(versus NoOne on Ice Fields, basically someone got through their complete blockade of our base exits and waited about 90% of the match inside their own base until we finally took them down from their spawn camping positions and then he ran in and out and ninja capped.)
But it almost didn't matter what the rest of a public team did in CTF/Assault, the side with more pistolers would win.
This is completely not true in TF2.
You can have a team of all highly skilled individuals and lose.
Your entire team can collectively trounce the opposing team's scores and you can still lose on an even map (let's not mention the campofests Goldrush, Dustbowl and Badwater Basin, in descending order of annoyingness).
Can one person make a difference?
Yeah, but only if your team lets you.
I main medic, probably the easiest class ever, and generally I do well...but I only do as well as my team can be.
I enjoy playing TF2 a lot more than Halo PC, but I also rage a lot more than Halo PC, because inevitably I end up on the losing team, and feel it's COMPLETELY NOT MY FAULT.
There was no team to worry about in Halo PC, a single player could literally break an entire team over his knee like a bunch of sticks.

In casual, you can really screw up a lot of shitty players with medic...pyros who don't know when to back off, other medics who suck at getting the arc of the needle fire down (slightly down and to the right!) or overly depend on bonesaw, scouts who just strafe fire without jumping or moving in and out of your distance, engineers away from their sentries who can't aim, spies once they are discovered.

In competitive, the biggest difference is scouts.
You're not going to kill them.
If you do they shouldn't be playing scout.
Getting scouted as a medic is probably one of the most frustrating things about this game in competitive play, and easily the path to rage.
I get very angry at my team when I get killed by scouts because of non-watchful teammates.
I get very angry at my team when I get killed by scouts when it's my own damn fault for battle medicing.
Either way in pubs I usually just rage switch and go soldier or scout myself.
In competitive I rarely have the option to switch from the "sitting duck" class.
Until last match.
For the first time ever Skro (team captain) volunteered to switch the roles of soldier and medic with me on Granary.
Pickie was too busy playing Tales of Vesperia, the fag, so yes we were running scoutless on granary.
Somehow it worked.
I'll have a video up soon cause I found it sort of amusing.

Arcana Heart 2 SUGOI! New Characters revealed

Latest Arcadia
New art it seems for all.
Seems like Kei Garou shading.
I actually like the new art a lot more.
Inuwaka Nazuna

Croquette loli.

Inuwaka Akane

Hi, my scarf looks like hair in silhouettes.

They're sisters.
Why is their last name Inuwaka when they have cat ears?
Maybe they're dog ears, but we already have a dog!
Whatever.

Akane looks fucking cool.
Hell it just might be the new art.

Haruhi Season T...Churuya-san anime announced

nyoro~n

Gleam of Force

Aka GOF2.
LOL at this game.
The level of polish is insanely high, but of course all the characters are Namikai style along with this weird ass disembodied Rumble Fish limb type deal.
Uncanny valley at its finest!
Anyway, defense is at least 50%, if not 80% of this game, so I'm pretty bad right now, as block is not back, but a separate button, which I almost NEVER PRESS.
I'm just mashing my combos and then getting fierced in the face right through them :3

Comiket 74 and Super Battle Opera 08

Tougeki 2008 Results

SBO "live feed" this year was pretty ass.
They show one real match, then old footage for like hours, repeat once per game.
No finals or anything.
I have to admit seeing Denpa lose was sort of satisfying -_-.
At least Kubo finally won MBAC, he deserved it.
Efute aka scrub May Dogura NOtoko won GGAC
HENVOKE!!!!!?!?!?! won AH2 using Lilica (wow what happened to all the Yorikos, Catherines, Clarices, Sakis, and Zenias? Lilica is nothing compared to what those broke characters have)
Tekken was won by Anna, Roger Jr., and Bob.
You can read the rest of the results for yourself, I don't really know the people playing the games besides AH2, MBAC, and GGAC.

As for C74, tons of amusing stuff is coming out, but for some reason I'm finding myself liking Fuuka Taisen.
I've never even watched Mai Hime or Mai Otome but the characters have a lol charm.

Messed around with Sora, I still suck at shooters.
I'll put up a vid of me mashing through Level 1 soon.

Otakon

Stuff happened.
I bought 3 volumes of real Persona 3 manga and one gag volume.
Then I bought 2 volumes of Disgaea 2 manga.

Then I completely fagged out and bought Little Witch's "Girls" and Itou Noizi's "FTW", which together totaled over $100, thus breaking any vows I had not to overspend at Otakon.
In short, I'm pretty pleased with everything I bought except "Girls," which basically only contained rehashed promotional artwork.
Booooo.

Jam Project didn't have a backup band, so it was a tad disappointing with all the pre-recorded instrumentals.
Then midway they pulled out acoustic guitars and their own drums and played the Scrapped Princess opening.
That was pretty amazing.
Actually screw it Jam Project in general was pretty amazing.

Touhou Panel.
Uh.
Ahahaha.
"Now you have fucked up!"

Anyway I took very few pictures as usual this year, cause my standards are too high and other random shit.
Or I didn't have memory, take your excuse of choice.
Some pictures are on my laptop, like a ridiculously awesome Aegis, I'll get those later.

One of many TF2 cosplayers. MEDIC!

The lighting's sort of bad but this was a very impressive Aegis cosplay, probably the only Persona 3 cosplay I reallyliked at the entire con.

A very nice Velvet from Odin Sphere.

Man Wriggle is for Benny1.

A big daddy from Bioshock. Wouldn't want to meet one of these things at night.

The Monarch and Doctor Girlfriend.

Cute Reimu blinked.

Sorry for the blurry shot, but that afro samurai is the REAL DEAL.

The Tetsuo baby from Akira. Nightmares forever.

Meroko from "WHAT'S FMOS?"

VAkiha. I heard Lord Knight got her number like the clown he is.

Persona 4 Post-Impressions

So I took down the final true boss and beat the game.
Impressions.

First things first, the ability to control all your teammates instantly made the game 10x more enjoyable.
Instead of your fucking dipshit teammates doing the wrong moves over and over it's now entirely your fault if you choose the wrong thing to do.
In battle the focus of the game has shifted away from MC hacks.
You can no longer equip all weapons in the game.
Because of the free heals in P3, running Tartarus generally became the MC one more turning every single encounter while his teammates had no turns.
Boss fights generally became the MC healing everyone and hoping they wouldn't screw up.

P4's change of making SP precious and no free healing or teleports changed this.
The scarcity of SP and the fact there were no teleports meant the MC could not happily blow through all his SP one more turning entire encounters.
In addition, to counteract the fact you can now control your entire party, P4 threw mixed enemy teams at you a LOT.
This happened rarely in P3.
These enemy teams weren't just randomly grouped either, they would have abilities that helped each other.
For example a group of four reflect physical beetles and a single mage that could cast mass berserk on your party, thus having you kill yourself.
Using your teammates to their fullest effect was required to get through a dungeon in halfway decent shape.
The difficulty felt greatly improved/increased, I did not feel it was a P3 FES hard mode "bullshit difficulty" but rather a "real difficulty."
They gave you quite a lot of options to avoid bullshit OHKOs from light/death/random critical hits.

In terms of characters...
Hm this is a hard one.
In Persona 3, I didn't really have a clear favorite, and eventually came to like them all.
Except for Ken.
Poor Ken hahaha.

In Persona 4, there was a clear favorite from the get-go, so while I was completely veering toward that one character I probably have given the others less thought.
That character for me was Yukiko.
Yamato Nadesico except with a lot of quirks and a mean streak along with great deadpan lines.
I admit because I was too busy fawning over her I probably don't appreciate the others as much as I could have.
I do find Yousuke awesome though, better than Junpei.
Chie is a great character, but a lot of it lies in her chemistry with Yousuke and Yukiko, not exactly in herself.
I find Kanji personally hilarious from his initial shadow self to his ability to make stuffed animals.
Rise is...:V She's ok when she talks normally, but the second she becomes happy or in battle you get that high-pitched Kugumiya Rie whine that completely annoys me.
Naoto is...a wasted oppurtunity, I feel.
Quite an interesting backstory and such but you get her so late in the game, and unlike say your earlier characters who do show some personality change she remains the same.
One could argue that's what her commu is for but meh.

Story is a lot smaller in scale I feel, but I think that reflects the focus this time around on Japanese mythology/Shintoism/country backwater (lol).
I'm still trying to figure out why the criminal acted the way he did though...to the point of even going back over the scenes with a dictionary.
Like was it just ennui?
Really?
Come on here...
Maybe you can argue some philosophical bullshit angle like path of Zen or something, I don't know.

Skull Girls Promotional Video

Persona 4 - I love this game.

The way the Ou-sama game works is sort of like a Japanese truth or dare deal.
You basically draw straws or what not, the red straw becomes the king.
Everyone else gets hidden numbers.
Then you basically say, "Number 4, hug number 2," or something to that effect.

In this case, drunken Yukiko and Rise call out the four "orders" before the drawing commences.

Nakoruru?
Who knows.

PERSONA FUCKING FOUR

FUCK YEAH PERSONA SHADES

I'll go into more depth once the battle video uploads but generally here are the changes so far:
Game seems generally harder.
You can fully control your teammates (thank fucking god)
No more kiting, which was essential in hard mode FES, drag a monster far enough from it's starting point and it will teleport back instead of turning around with its back wide open.
Backstabs are infinitely harder, monsters have eyes in the back of their head it seems and WILL ! mark even if you approach directly from behind.
The purple foes have a wide arc of turn meaning you can miss the initial stab and get enemy advantaged yourself.
Guarding reduces damage and also PREVENTS YOU FROM BEING DOWNED if you are hit in weakness.
There seem to be a lot of ways to cover your weakness, second boss used a spell that changed her weakness of wind into half damage, then she'd pop off with zionga or what not, one more turn because I forgot to defend with Yosukie, and then status effect +30 damage him or so.
Also, shuffle has changed to some weird spinny atom type deal.
